International Women's Day

This International Women's Day we thought it would be interesting to take a look at the famous Girl Cats around the world and their achievements!

Grumpy Cat
Grumpy Cat

Grumpy Cat, whose real name is Tardar Sauce, became an internet sensation after her photo was posted on Reddit on September 22, 2012 showing off her remarkable displeased look when she was just five months old.

It was suggested that the original photo was photoshopped, so her parents posted a few videos on YouTube. The videos went viral and her popularity continued to increase! She has 8.4 million fans on facebook.

Her perpetual frown and small size are what made her so unique. She has a condition called feline dwarfism.

She died last year on the 14 May 2019, but she will live on forever through her funny memes and millions of social media fans.

Nala Cat

Nala Cat

Nala was rescued from an animal shelter when she was 5 months old. Her previous owner wasn’t able to care for her but she was adopted into a loving home.

Her mum started an Instagram account in 2012 to share her adoption story with family and friends. She posts a firsthand account of everything Nala gets up to in her everyday life, playing, eating & being cute.

She has 2.5 million facebook fans. She holds the Guinness World Record for the most followers for a cat on Instagram with 4.3 million fans.

She now has her own brand of food, merchandise and she has written a book.

Lil Bub

Lil Bub

Lil BUB, is an American celebrity cat known for her unique physical appearance. Her photos were first posted to Tumblr in November 2011. Lil Bub has over three million likes on facebook.

BUB is a very special one of a kind critter. In July of 2011, she was discovered as the runt of a healthy feral litter in a tool shed in rural Indiana at only a few weeks old. She was taken in as a rescue when it was clear that she would require special care.

Since then BUB has become one of the most famous cats on planet. She is a published author, a talk show host, the star of an award winning documentary, created Lil BUB's Big FUND for the ASPCA (the first national fund for special needs pets), and has helped raise over $300,000 for animals in need.

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty

Hello Kitty, also known by her full name Kitty White, is a fictional character produced by the Japanese company Sanrio, created by Yuko Shimizu in 1974.

Hello Kitty is a female Japanese Bobtail with a red bow. She is a perpetual 3rd-grade student who lives outside London. Kitty shares the same birthday as her twin sister, Mimi on November 1.

The first Hello Kitty vinyl coin purse was introduced in 1975. Since then Hello Kitty has become a franchise with merchandise including clothing, apparel, toys, comics, music and other media.

When Hello Kitty turned 40 years old, she was worth about $8 billion a year.

As of 2019, Hello Kitty is the second highest grossing franchise of all time (behind Pokemon), having generated $80 billion in lifetime retail sales.

There are three Sanrio theme parks based on Hello Kitty. Harmonyland in  Hiji, Japan,  Sanrio Puroland in Tokyo, Japan, and Sanrio Hello Kitty Town in Johor, Malaysia.

Ziggy Belle

And then there's me....Ziggy Belle!

I am a nearly 12 year old rescue cat with one eye. I hope to become a famous ambassador for rescue and differently abled cats. I currently support the Sunshine Coast Animal Refuge who help abandoned kitty cats and puppy dogs that need to find new homes.

I have written a book called "Caring for your Kitty Cat",  I have merchandise on my website and I have a calendar.

So far I have a few hundred followers on facebook and instagram.

I can only hope that one day I will be as successful as these other Kitty Cats.

As Michelle Obama says there is no limit to what we, as women can accomplish. So there is no reason that it cannot happen for me to!
