It is a common myth that because cats spend 50% of their day grooming that we as cat parents don't need to assist them.
We actually do need to assist! All cats require grooming to maintain healthy skin and a shiny, glossy coat.
For medium and long haired cats regular brushing prevents mats forming in your cats coat. It removes excess hair, debris and dander from their coat. Which means less shedding of hair around the house and less chance of your fur baby regurgitating up a hairball.
Although short haired breeds may not suffer with the dreaded hairball issue they have more exposed skin which is prone to sweat and oily build up. Some short haired may require weekly bathing.
Kitty cats can do a reasonably good job of looking after their nails by scratching but they still require their nails to be trimmed.
